WARNING to all who use MSN

There seems to be a lot of hype going around at the moment about a new virus that is being transmitted via MSN through the photo album.

I don't use MSN myself so I'm not able to give the complete picture (forgive the pun), but here's a quote from the article I read.

Read this and hope it doesn't happen to you.

There is a virus coming down msn from your friends, its not from them, it is a Trojan horse that has been downloaded by them accidentally.  It then uses your msn, to contact all of your friends, in the hope that they will accept your new photo album.

Is a pain in the derriere!!!

If you use MSN then I suggest you do a Google search for:

  msn virus

to see if you should have anything to worry about.

This Google search might be a starting place.  Click here.

It seems there are 2 different types of viruses.
• The first type sends out a link to a phishing site that asks for your MSN login details, if you put them in it takes over your account and sends the same link out to all your contacts to take over their accounts.
• The second type apparently sends out a link to a site that infects you with the virus, no entering your password or anything, the virus then sends out the same link to all your contacts to infect them.

Basically, if any of your MSN contacts send you any links make sure it's really them and not a virus that's sending out links using their account.
I've experienced both of these but not recently. Just don't click on any link thats sent via IM unless you are actually talking to someone and know about the link they're sending you.
